Betty June Womack
June 6, 1930 - August 8, 2023

Betty June Womack, 93, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2023 after a long illness. Betty was born on June 6, 1930 in Muskegon, Michigan.  She was the youngest of three children of Leslie and Elsie Stratton.  She was a graduate of The University of Tampa, and received her Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida.  Betty was teacher and educational administrator for a total of 57 years.

Most of her career was with the Hillsborough County School System.  Her last position was at Wimauma Elementary School until retiring in 2013 at the age of 83. Betty was a kind, brave, energetic, caring, adventuresome, and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend to virtually everyone she met over her lifetime.  After her retirement she kept busy volunteering at her church and with many other charitable organizations in the area.  Betty enjoyed shopping, traveling (especially when more shopping was involved), sunning at the beach or pool, and spending time with friends and family.

Betty is survived by her son, Allan Grimm, her daughter-in-law, Henia Grimm, stepson, John Womack, stepdaughter, Jodie Irwin and her husband, Jerry Irwin, and Betty’s seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Melvin and Lyle Stratton, husband, John Womack, son, Randall Grimm, and daughter Cheryl Grimm.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Creekside Church located at 311 Newberger Rd, Lutz, FL 33549 on August 29, 2023 at 10:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gulfside Hospice by mail at 2061 Collier parkway, Land O lakes, FL 34639, or on the web at gulfside.org.
