Dana Kay Newberry
September 13, 1950 - January 10, 2024

Dana Kay Newberry, 73 of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, went home to be with the Lord at
12:44 PM on the 10th of January, 2024.
Dana Kay Campbell was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 13, 1950 to Claude
Whitner Campbell and Donis Nell Campbell. As the daughter of a Colonel in the United
States Air Force, she lived in many places, to include Japan, Turkey, Washington D.C.
and San Antonio, where she graduated from Randolph Air Force Base High School. In
1972, she graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in English and it is
there where she met her future husband, Donald Dean Newberry. They married on
August 19, 1972 and moved to Tulia, Texas. Throughout her life, Dana had many careers.
She sold Avon and Tupperware, worked as a real estate agent, and assisted Dean on the
farm in north Texas. After moving to the Tampa Bay area in 1985, she became a British
literature teacher at Osceola High School and after completing her Master’s degree in
Educational Leadership, she became an assistant principal at Osceola and then East Lake
High School, where she served until she retired in 2009. Throughout her life, she was
active in the church, most recently at Idlewild Baptist Church. She taught multiple bible
studies, regularly volunteered at Vacation Bible School, and was a Bible Study
Fellowship leader for many years. Despite these many accomplishments, Dana was
always quick to point out that her greatest achievement was marrying Dean and raising
three children.
Dana was preceded in death by her parents, C.W. and Donis Campbell and her younger
brother, Mark Campbell.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Dean Newberry; her children, Stuart Newberry,
Travis Newberry, and Leanne Estrada; her older brother, Whit Campbell; six
grandchildren, and seven nephews and nieces.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 AM on the 29th of January at Idlewild
Baptist Church with Pastor Reno Zunz officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00
AM. Dana would want this to be a celebration, so please wear something colorful and
rejoice with us in her home going. She will be interred at a later date at the Florida
National Cemetery in Bushnell.
