
David Arthur Prior, Ret. Maj. US Army, 77 of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was born in Chillicothe, Missouri and grew up in Milan, Missouri and Des Moines, Iowa. His military career included tours in Korea and Germany. Settled in St. Louis, Missouri and retired to Florida in 2012. David retired from the United States Army as a major and then went on to begin a second career as a System Manager for MasterCard. His retirement hobby was spending 8 hours a day researching and documenting the history of Dowling Catholic High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the Director of the Chimes Music Group in Forest Lake Estates, loved road trips to National Parks, the outdoors and camping, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
David is survived by his daughter, Jackie Gilmore McManus; son and daughter-in-law, James and Elizabeth Prior; his sister, Patricia Shapley; grandson, Austin and his wife, Alexis. Also surviving is his beloved great-granddaughter, Mia Gilmore and his former wife, Sue Prior. David was predeceased by his brothers, Doug and Ted Prior.
At his request, he will be buried at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis where military honors will be rendered sometime in the fall.

One of David’s favorite songs that the St Mary’s choir sang was “Heavenly Home” I pulled in beside him in the church parking lot and he was sitting in has car listening to on the CD we had gotten copies of. I told him he was going to be late for practice…. “I know. I keep playing g it over and over. I love this song “. You might want to find it and listen to it…. We missed his tenor voice and Sharon always kept in touch with him.. I am so sorry he has passed on…. We all miss him…
