Dawn E. Kerfien
March 24, 1935 - May 17, 2024

Dawn Kerfien of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Oswego, New York, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Oswego, New York, on March 24, 1935, Dawn lived a life marked by dedication to her family, community, and craft.

Dawn was the owner and operator of Dawn’s Beauty Salon in Oswego, where she provided service with both skill and grace. Her passion for creativity extended beyond her professional work; she was an active member of a stitching club that specialized in creating beautiful rugs, pillows, wall hangings, and other decorations.

A woman of faith, Dawn attended Lycoming Methodist Church in Lycoming, New York, where she found not only spiritual nourishment but also a sense of community and belonging.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Ethel Priest Coe; her beloved husband of 39 years, Jim Kerfien; her son, Terry Ware; and her brothers, Lawrence and Gerald Coe.

She is survived by her son Michael Ware; her daughters, Pam Thompson, Kim (Jerry) Furney, and Donna (Doug) Salz; her stepsons, James Kerfien, Jr.  (Dominick) Kerfien; her stepdaughters, Leesa ( John) Hartz and Valerie Hoey; her grandchildren, Jamee Battle, Kristopher Ware, Katie Delaney, and Jason and David Furney; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to have known her love and wisdom.

Services will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate Dawn’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moffit Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Dawn’s compassionate spirit and her commitment to helping others.

Dawn Kerfien will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
