Gary Eubank, 74, passed away on Thursday, February 9, at home with his devoted wife and best
friend of 43 years, Rory Anne, and their daughter, Morgan Lea, by his side. Gary was born on March
24, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan. However, Gary’s parents, Henry & Helen, moved to Tampa, Florida,
when he was two months old; the Tampa Bay area has always been his home. Gary graduated from
Hillsborough High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the
University of South Florida, Tampa, and a Master of Education in School Administration from the
University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg. Gary was a dedicated and gifted teacher and
administrator who was admired and respected throughout his 43 year career.
In 1980, Gary married Rory Anne, also a career educator. One dream Gary and Rory shared was to
teach at American International schools abroad. That dream was realized beginning in 1982 with
positions in Bulgaria, followed by Yugoslavia, Croatia, the Republic of South Africa, Gabon, Liberia,
and Egypt. Gary always felt very fortunate to enjoy such rich and rewarding professional, as well as
personal, experiences. In 2014, Gary retired from international teaching and school administration
and returned to their home in Land O’ Lakes, Florida.
Gary loved motorcycles and had been an enthusiast from his teen years. He bought a Honda
Goldwing GLE, and together he and Rory Anne would take long trips from Florida to destinations as
far away as Nevada and Colorado. Never one to give in to limitations imposed by age, Gary
converted the Goldwing to a trike so he and Rory Anne could continue to enjoy their adventures on
the open road.
Gary was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Rory Anne and his
children Morgan Lea and Gary II.
Gary was a devoted member of St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church and had served on the Vestry and
the Service Commission. A memorial service will be held at the church at a later date when the family
is able to convene. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Gary’s cremains will be interred in the
church’s St. Francis Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St.
Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 502 Druid Hills Road, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617 in Gary’s
memory. The family would especially like to recognize and sincerely thank the members of the
Gulfside Hospice (Zephyrhills), Diamond B Team, for their heartfelt care and support while Gary was
on their service. The family is asking for your prayers as they grieve.
