James Martin Barry, a loving husband, father, and dedicated member of the community, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023, in Lutz, Florida. Born on April 27, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, James lived a life filled with devotion and hard work. He was 80 years old at the time of his passing.
James spent much of his career as a Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Tampa, where he tirelessly served the community, ensuring that the city’s infrastructure remained in top condition. His commitment to his work was evident in everything he did, always going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those around him.
Prior to his career, James proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, where he demonstrated his patriotism and dedication to his country. His time in the military shaped him into the disciplined and honorable man that he was.
In his personal life, James cherished his family above all else. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sharon, who passed away in 2022. The loss of his wife was an immeasurable sorrow for James, but their love endured throughout the years and left an indelible mark on his heart.
James was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Patton, as well as his parents, Emory and Margaret Kenney Barry. Although their absence brought him great sadness, James found solace in the memories they shared and the love they had given him.
He leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Teresa Evens, who were not only family but also trusted confidants and lifelong friends. James deeply valued their unwavering support and friendship throughout his life.
Additionally, James is survived by his grandson, Armond Patton, who brought him immense joy and pride. His grandson was a constant source of happiness for James, and his memory will forever be cherished.
The life of James Martin Barry will be celebrated and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. While no services are planned at this time, his loved ones will gather to honor his memory privately. James’ dedication to his family, his work, and his country will forever serve as an inspiration to those who knew him, leaving a lasting legacy of love and commitment.
