Michael was born to Lenard Thereaux and Florence Sutter, and from a young age, he displayed a spirit of determination and compassion that would define his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karolyn Otlewski and is survived by his loving children Perry Mealey & Kimberly Sell, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. A proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Michael found immeasurable joy in his role as patriarch. His seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren were the lights of his life, and he reveled in the moments spent with each one. Michael’s commitment to service was evident in every facet of his life. His military career, where he reached the rank of GMG3, was marked by specialized expertise in small arms, torpedoes, vertical launching systems, ordinance, and gun mount systems. His Naval training at the Center laid the foundation for a life dedicated to duty and honor. Beyond his military service, Michael continued to serve his community with distinction. He ran a recovery house for men struggling with addiction, offering a lifeline to those in need and demonstrating the transformative power of compassion. Michael’s entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his ownership of a cab company, where he navigated the roads of life with the same determination that defined his military service. His resilience and hard work were further evident in his 20-year career with Coca-Cola, a testament to his dedication and unwavering work ethic. As we remember Michael Mealey, let us cherish the indomitable spirit that defined his life.
