It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Monaghan Sr. (71), of Land O Lakes, Florida, who passed away August 8, 2023 peacefully in the presence of his beloved wife. Michael Monaghan is survived by his loving wife Wendy Monaghan, devoted sons Michael Monaghan Jr. And Shelby Monaghan; 5 beautiful grandkids, Lucas, Nico, Kaleesi, Olivia and Jack Monaghan; Brothers Robert and Ric Monaghan; Mother Martha Jean Kirkland and father-in-law Kirk Kirkland. As a son, father, husband, brother, grandfather / “Papa”, and mentor to countless others, he left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he touched. From the colds of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois in his youth where he was known as Mighty Mike, the football fields of Mississippi State as QB in college, to his years as 20 plus years as an educator in Alachua county, which included roles as Head Coach at Santa Fe High School, Principle at New Pathways & Dean at Eastside High School in Gainesville along with countless other roles in his life. A life well lived marks everyone around it with love, we will remember the marks he left with us and be grateful that such a man existed; and that we were so blessed to have experienced this life with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 27th beginning at 3pm at Grace Community Church 7107 Boyette Rd. Wesley Chapel, Fl 33545
