Richard “Ricky” Benson, 69 of Zephyrhills and formally from Akron, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. He was an industrial flooring installer and moved to Florida in 2009 from Akron. Ricky enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and especially, playing the drums. He was Lutheran in faith and is survived by his devoted sister, Darla Skipper with whom he lived, his sister, Gail Strait; his son, Christopher Benson and 2 grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ricky was predeceased by his parents, Marvin Benson and Sybil Tapp Benson and one sister, Deborah and one brother, Kevin.

As a teenager Ricky was a heart throb. Loved watching him play drums while his band down in his basement. Even though I was a few years younger, he still always treated me nice. Rest easy Ricky Benson.

You all are piers and I will be down there soon and I’m sick of all of you piers get your life together don’t play with me or lie to me about my Dad like you lied about everyone else you people make me sick grow up.
Rick was a wonderful, generous man. I’ll miss him. And now I also miss his sister, Darla, who passed away on the 14th of this month. Chris, there are no lies here. It is true and I’m sorry your dad is gone.
