Roger Lee Scott, a dedicated Hillsborough County Fire Fighter and beloved member of the community, passed away on January 25, 2024, in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was 76 years old.
Born on December 1, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa, Roger was the son of Harley and Louise Horstman Scott. He grew up alongside his three sisters, Carolyn, Barbara, and Lanne. Roger had a strong work ethic and was proud to serve as a firefighter for Hillsborough County, protecting the lives and property of his fellow citizens.
Throughout his career, Roger was an active member of the Firefighters Union in Tampa, Florida. His commitment to his profession and his dedication to his colleagues earned him the respect and admiration of those he worked with. Roger’s contributions to the field will be remembered and cherished by all.
Outside of his professional life, Roger found solace and strength in his faith. He was a loyal member of the New Testament Worship Center in Tampa, where he sought spiritual guidance and fostered a sense of community.
Roger’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was married to his loving wife, Arlene, for 38 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, support, and shared memories. Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Arlene, as well as his sons, Daniel Lee and Andrew Lee Scott. His presence will be deeply missed by his sisters, Carolyn, Barbara, and Lanne, as well as other cherished family members and friends.
A lifelong resident of Tampa, Roger called this city his home. He made an impact on the lives of many and will forever be remembered for his selflessness, bravery, and unwavering dedication to serving others.
Though we mourn the loss of Roger, let us also celebrate the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at the New Testament Worship Center, Tampa at a later date.
