Rudolf P. Kollanda, passed away on December 26, 2023, in Zephyrhills, Florida, at the age of 61.
Born December 26, 1962, in Meriden, CT, he spent his childhood playing football, baseball, and ice hockey while teaching himself how to play an electric guitar—very loudly. Shortly after graduating from O.H. Platt High School, he moved to Florida with his new bride to start a new career and family.
Rudy was happiest when working with his heart and his hands as a facility maintenance technician and supervisor in the construction and healthcare industries, as well as for the U.S. Dept of Defense.
He enjoyed spending his free time tackling home-improvement projects, playing pool, and helping raise his two young girls. He never hesitated to give a helping hand or give a kind word to a friend, neighbor, or a stranger.
He is survived by his parents, Clayton and Irene Kollanda; brothers Jacob and Spiro Kollanda; his daughters, Jessica and Stephanie Kollanda; and his grandson Parker Kollanda. Of all whom he loved, he was most proud of his daughters and grandson.
In honoring Rudolf’s memory, his family will hold a memorial service in Palm Bay, Florida in the coming month. They invite those who wish to pay their respects to make memorial contributions on behalf of Rudy to their local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization. This gesture reflects Rudolf’s deep appreciation for those who have served our country and his desire to support them in any way possible.
