William John Oakes Sr., 95 of New Port Richey,  Florida,  formerly of Grand Haven, MI, passed away August 1, 2018.

He was born August 17, 1922 in Kalamazoo,  Michigan.

He served in WWII in the Army, fought in the Pacific Theater and earned the Victory Medal, 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and many more.

He was a graduate of Hope College and worked for IBM as a Systems Engineer.

Bill is survived by his loving family:

Daughter Karen (Bill Burns), Son William Jr. (Anita) Oakes, daughter Suellyn (Jeffrey) Cort, several Grandchildren,  Great grandchildren,  Great Great grandchildren and one brother Harry (Lorraine) Oakes.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Virginia (Olson) Oakes.
